Poem 'Come unto Me'
COME UNTO ME
Come unto me
All who are heavy laden
And I will give you rest.
Come unto me
With love and adoration
Come with contrition in your breast.
Take; eat. This is my body
Which is offered in the bread.
Drink this wine. This is my blood
For you so freely shed.
Kneel. Open wide your heart
Let my Spirit enter in
Washing, with my sacred blood,
All residue of sin.
Cast down, here at my feet,
The burdens of the day.
Let me wash away your tears
As you humbly kneel and pray.
Know, deep within your heart,
How much I care for you.
I will never let you down;
Learn to trust me, do.
Listen to my zephyr voice;
Read my holy Word.
Act with _obedience_ on
The commandments you have heard.
How sad it is, man's small regard
For my saving mystery.
What man has missed without my Love
Throughout all History.
Alas for man, so hard of heart,
Without appreciation
What I, the Lord, have sacrificed
For his joy and great salvation.
Heaven does not start at death
But right now on earth below
When you invite me into your heart
As you will surely know.
Come! See this trouble-stricken world
From a different point of view.
Know beyond all shade of doubt
That all my claims are true.
Oh, wonderful and hidden grace
In this sacrament so pure.
Come unto me, gaze on my face
And joy will fill this hour.
