"Lester's pictures get to your heart" - John Platts, Kent

"Quite simply, these beeswax paintings are amazing! I am intrigued by their variety and individual uniqueness. Knowing how they are produced, even though not technically minded, in some way accentuates ones appreciation and admiration. The randomness of outcome is beguiling: we, the viewers, share the excitement with the artist in the wonderment of what is produced.

Each picture has its own fascination. Some paintings are relatively simple and easily identifiable, whilst others are complex and need to be absorbed. Both styles are equally satisfying, but perhaps it is the abstract designs which are the more hypnotic, evoking different interpretations according to one's mood.

If you are influenced by colour, as I am, then these beeswax paintings are definitely for you. My personal preference is for those with strong or dominant colour; to my eye the format (medium) is less successful when restricted to pastel shades.

It is difficult to give away these pictures, even the reproductions. Mine are greetings cards and, as such, are intended to be 'used'. So far I have to been reluctant to part with them!"

"Lester's paintings appeal to my imagination as some of them are landscapes which can only be imagined - I doubt they exist in reality, and therefore they are more like a fantasy place that one could wander into in your dreams. "Silver Night" which I have on the wall in my kitchen is an example. If you want something different which makes you think, buy one of Lester's paintings and enjoy."

“I purchased an original ‘Lyrical’ encaustic painting about 20 years ago for my son’s 21st Birthday. He was very thrilled with it and it still looks good on his wall in Singapore.”

"Lester's pictures have a quality reminiscent of the Impressionists. They could be an invenstment for the future.

Who knows what some of those pictures could fetch in a hundred years!! So hurry and buy while they are still affordable".

“From mysterious, sombre, mystical to exquisite, happy and vibrant, Lester's pictures reflect his multi-faceted talent. This is Art with a big A

"I have owned a selection of pieces for many years and they give as much pleasure today as ever. The colours have held true despite being displayed in sunny rooms.

Although the computer screen gives a fair representation of the images, they really have to be seen 'in the flesh' to appreciate the true beauty of the jewel-like colours. This is especially true of the originals when viewed in bright light".  Lisa F - East Sussex

Somebody, who had just bought a couple of pictures from me, said to me at an exhibition, some years ago, "You know these pictures will be valuable when you die. Buck up and die!"

I think the reason for the 'jewel-like' effect in bright light, which occurs more with some pictures than others, is that some of the waxes are translucent. So, with them, some of the light that falls on the picture is reflected from its suface and some of it passes through the wax and is reflected back off the white base through the wax giving a unique back-lighting effect.

Most encaustics respond delightfully to being illuminated by a spotlight.
